Ofsted is the regulatory body for the inspection of childcare provisions in England. All childminders must register with Ofsted before they can provide care for children. There are two registers for which childminders can apply for depending on the ages of children they intend to provide care for.

I am registered on the Early Years Register (EYFS 2014) to care for children from birth up to age 5, the compulsory part of the Childcare Register (2014) to care for children aged 5 to 8 years and on the voluntary part of the Childcare Register to look after children aged 8 to 18 years.

As an Early Years Provider, registered on the Early Years Register, I must deliver the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to all children in my care from birth up to age 5. The EYFS specifies requirements for learning and development and for safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
